What associate licenses does Talkspace accept?

Expanding your clinical practice through digital care offers flexibility, direct experience, and an effective way to accumulate hours toward full independent licensure. While Talkspace historically required providers to hold the highest clinical license allowing independent practice, select provisional and associate licenses are currently accepted in 24 U.S. jurisdictions.

If you are a provisionally licensed therapist, social worker, or counselor considering joining Talkspace, here is everything you need to know about network participation requirements and which associate licenses are approved by state.

To join the Talkspace provider network as an associate therapist, candidates must meet foundational clinical, technological, and operational criteria.

  • Licensure & Supervision: You must hold an active associate or provisional license in an approved state and maintain a formal supervisory agreement with an external clinical supervisor.
  • Single License Practice Policy: You may only utilize one associate license at a time on the platform. Clinicians holding a mix of associate and fully independent licenses across different states cannot practice under both simultaneously and must choose one track.
  • Malpractice Coverage: Maintain an individual professional liability policy with minimum coverage limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence / $3,000,000 aggregate, compliant with state and Talkspace standards.
  • Technical Hardware: Access to the Talkspace practitioner platform via an iOS device (iOS 14.0 or higher) or a desktop/laptop equipped with a video camera for exclusive video sessions.
  • Platform Engagement: Agreement to participate in required orientation and competency training, alongside daily availability (morning/afternoon or afternoon/evening) to meet client engagement expectations.

The following table details the specific associate and provisional license designations accepted on the Talkspace platform across 24 states and the District of Columbia.

Note: Provisional or associate license types not listed under an approved state—or licenses issued in states not appearing below—are not currently accepted.
