Talkspace & TriCare

Background

TriCare is the uniformed services health care program for active duty service members (ADSMs), active duty family members (ADFMs), National Guard and Reserve members and their family members, retirees, and retiree family members, survivors, and certain former spouses worldwide. Talkspace is working with TriCare to provide our services to their network. 

TriCare has two distinct ‘networks’ Talkspace accepts; TriCare West & Humana TriCare East. 

Provider Action Required

Humana TriCare East 

All eligible, fully & independently licensed, credentialed providers are given an opportunity to enroll as a certified provider in the Humana TriCare East network during the onboarding process. If you want to work with Humana TriCare East after you have completed onboarding, you can email credentialing@talkspace.com to request a certification form. 

Providers with a license in one of the Humana TriCare East states and an interest in matching with these clients must complete a certification form to be submitted to Humana for processing.

TRICARE East States: Alabama, Arkansas (Naval Support Activity Mid-South and Eaker BRAC PSA Only), Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Missouri (Eaker BRAC PSA Only), Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia

Initial Onboarding Process for Humana TriCare East Enrollment

  1. Complete the Humana TRICARE East Telehealth Only Provider Certification form
  2. Under the “I am applying for certification as a:” section, select your corresponding license type:
    1. Licensed Psychologists: Select “Clinical Psychologist”
    2. LPC & LMHC License Holders: Select “Mental Health Counselor" (Note: Must have passed the NCMHCE (or equivalent) OR passed the NCE prior to 1/1/2017)
    3. LCSW/CSW/LCSW-S: Select “Certified Clinical Social Worker”
    4. LMFT/MFT: Select “Certified Marriage and Family Therapist" (Note: Must submit Transcript & Proof of Supervision Documentation)
    5. PMHNP: Select “Certified Psychiatric Nurse Specialist”
    6. MD/DO: Select “Physician”
    7. PA: Select “Physician Assistant”
  3. Continue to fill out the remaining required sections of the form
  4. The credentialing team will review the form for completeness
    1. If additional information is necessary, the credentialing team will reach out to you
  5. The certification will then be processed by Humana TriCare East
  6. Talkspace will verify provider certifications on a regular basis and activate providers to match with clients once you’re certified

Existing Provider Humana TriCare East Enrollment Process

  1. You will reach out to credentialing@talkspace.com asking for support with Humana TRICARE East enrollment

TRICARE West States: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas*, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana*, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri*, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin*, and Wyoming.

*The states with an asterisk have zip codes that fall under east and west. Providers who are licensed in those states will receive both TriCare East and TriCare West Certification Forms to complete.

FAQ

How long will it take to become fully certified with TRICARE?

  • Timing of certification with TRICARE will depend on certification form completion and TRICARE processing times. Currently, applications are taking up to, or exceeding in some cases, 120 days.

What do I select on the TRICARE East application form for my specialty? 

  • LMHC/LPC/LPCC/LCPC/LIMHP/LIMHC (Professional Counselors and Mental Health Counselors)
    • Select Mental health counselor
  • MFT/LMFT (Certified/Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists
    • Select Certified Marriage and Family Therapist (CMFT)
  • SW/CSW/LCSW (Social Workers) 
    • Select Certified Clinical Social Worker (CSW)
  • NP/PMHNP (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner)

I selected my specialty and filled out my license information, but I cannot submit the form. What should I do? 

  • Verify that you’ve answered any and all additional questions listed for your specialty between pages 3-8 and if you are a Marriage & Family Therapist, between pages 10-13.
  • If you have filled out all required fields and are still unable to submit the form for any reason, contact credentialing@talkspace.com.

My specialty requires additional information to be filled out or attached to the application. How do I submit required information? 

  • If your specialty (LMFT/CMFT) requires additional documentation to be submitted with the application, you will be able to upload the required documentation as part of the application process. Complete the form and move forward in the process to upload required documentation.

My specialty requires me to fill out additional information between pages 3-8 and/or 10-13 and I cannot fill out the information. What should I do? 

  • Double check that you have selected the correct specialty on the first page of the certification form. If you have not selected your appropriate specialty, select the specialty and return to the appropriate page in the certification form to fill out your additional information. 
  • If you have filled out all required fields and are still unable to submit the form for any reason, contact credentialing@talkspace.com.

Do I need to list my additional licenses for certification? 

  • Yes, if you have more than one license credentialed at Talkspace, you must fill out each additional license on page 9.
  • If you do not have more than one license, you may indicate N/A on line 1.

I appear to have completed the certification form, however I am still unable to submit. What should I do? 

  • Double check that you have selected each of the required check boxes throughout the form. Some sections require a response, while others may not. Carefully review to ensure you’ve answered all of the required questions in the form. 

TRICARE West

My specialty requires additional information to be filled out or attached to the application. How do I submit required information? 

  • If your specialty (LMFT/CMFT) requires additional documentation to be submitted with the application, you will be able to upload the required documentation as part of the application process. Complete the form and move forward in the process to upload required documentation.
